International Foundation Year (Management and Social Sciences)

Overview

The International Foundation one-year programme in Management and Social Sciences prepares you to successfully complete one of a variety of degree programmes in Management and Social Sciences at THUAS. These programmes include business, banking, and behavioural and social sciences.

Pathway Structure

Stage 1: International Foundation

The International Foundation Year consists of the following modules:

  • Academic Literacy & Skills
  • Math for Business & Social Studies
  • Communication
  • Study Success
  • Management & Organisation
  • Economics
  • Inter-Module Project
  • Research Methods

Stage 2: First Year Degree

Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year, you may enter the English-taught Bachelors programme at THUAS in your chosen degree.

Stages 3 and 4: Second and Third Year Degree

In Stages 3 and 4, you will continue to gain knowledge and practical skills through coursework and elective modules in order to successfully complete your degree. The lectures and workshops will provide you with in-depth knowledge as well as experience working in a global team.

You will also be able to apply your knowledge during a semester-long internship at an international company in the Netherlands or abroad.

THPC also offers optional Dutch classes with a focus on the Dutch language and culture. The classes help students to settle and feel more integrated into Dutch society. The fee is €320 per term/level.

Teaching and Assessment

Teaching is delivered via a combination of lectures, seminars, and project-based group work (oral and written presentation). Assessment is via individual coursework (oral and written presentation) and examinations. You will be encouraged throughout to undertake independent study to supplement what is being taught/learnt and to broaden your personal knowledge.

Progression Criteria

A minimum of 55% in all subjects to progress to the University.

The Orientation Year (Zoekjaar) Permit allows recent graduates from non-EU countries to stay in or come back to the Netherlands for a period of up to 12 months.

During this one-year period, you can work in any type of job whilst searching for a permanent role or starting a business.
