The Netherlands & The Hague

The Netherlands

The Netherlands has a population of around 17,000,000 and a student population of around 329,000. Students come from all over the world to take advantage of the country’s excellent education system.

The Netherland has a robust economy with lots of national and international companies looking to take on graduates. International students can apply for a post-study Orientation Year residence permit, which allows them (and their partner/spouse) to live and work without restriction in the Netherlands for a year after their graduation.

Education in the Netherlands is much more cost-effective than other English-taught programmes in the UK or US, for example. Average tuition fees are about €2000 for students from the EU and around €10,000 for non-EU students. The Dutch education system is very highly regarded globally, so students will receive high-quality teaching and an internationally recognised degree with a lower price tag.

The Hague

The Hague is known as the International City of Peace and Justice and has regularly been under the eyes of the world thanks to several high-profile cases. The city has a reputation for diplomacy and globalism, especially given that the city is home to the primary judicial arm of the United Nations.

Despite its somewhat serious reputation, The Hague is still a city that knows how to have fun. The beach offers entertainment, including the SkyView Eye, a structure similar to the London Eye, which provides some of the best views of the city. The beach is also a popular spot for surfers. The city is also home to several excellent theatres, live music venues, and Parkpop, Europe’s largest free festival.

The Hague is also a very green city with 990 acres of woodland, 70,000 roadside trees and 1,120 scenic cycling routes. Ideal for bicycle trips to the Palace Gardens, Haagse Bos forests or Westduinpark dune land.
